Vegpro International Inc. is the largest grower-packer of baby lettuces and vegetables in Canada. Vegpro proudly cultivates its own land, thus controlling the quality of its products from seed to plate. It also has four packing centers located in the heart of its fields: two in Sherrington, QC; one in Coldstream, British Columbia; and one in Belle-Glade, Florida.
The main location of the position to be filled is located less than 10 minutes drive from Vernon, southeast on Highway 6 towards Lavington.
The Process Improvement Specialist assumes a leadership role in creating, evaluating, documenting and improving production processes by acting as a contributing partner to operational teams. This position is responsible for using Lean principles to drive continuous improvement initiatives and operational excellence through planning, scheduling, and implementing continuous improvement activities on the production floor of a manufacturing facility.
Main Responsibilities:
- Manage and lead varied production assignments and continuous improvement projects from inception, planning, implementation, and turnover, which may involve the interaction with multiple stakeholders
- Conduct a detailed analysis of the current situation that accurately describes the issues
- Working in conjunction with Maintenance and Engineering to provide ongoing technical support in any operational production process area
- Provide support in achieving operational productivity targets and identifying best practices, including process improvement, waste removal, and cost reduction
- Apply Lean methodology (i.e., 5S, A3, Gemba, Kaizen, etc.) to all related projects/activities and utilize statistical tools to characterize processes for operational excellence
- Organize, implement, and maintain production process flow to maximize KPI and minimize space usage
- Promote and comply with health, safety and environmental standards at all times

Knowledge and skills sought
- Bachelor’s Degree in production/business operations, industrial or mechanical engineering, or a related field
- Minimum 3 + years of successful related experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in a food or consumer packaged goods
- Knowledge of quality improvement methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, 5S, Kaizen
- Certified Continuous Improvement Manager (CCIM) beneficial but not required
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Suite, including advanced skills with Excel
- Skilled at synthesis, analysis and organization
- Strong work habits focusing on safety, quality, and productivity
- Initiative: propensity to actively participate in processes and to take charge of things in a dynamic, sustained, autonomous and creative way
- Interpersonal skills: ability to demonstrate interpersonal skills and develop strong relationships, including adopting a collaborative approach
