Vegpro International Inc. is the largest grower-packer of baby lettuces and vegetables in Canada. Known under the "Attitude Fraîche" brand, the company has revolutionized its field of activity since its founding in 1998. Vegpro proudly cultivates its own land, thus controlling the quality of its products from seed to plate. It also has four packing centers located in the heart of its fields: two in Sherrington, QC; one in Coldstream, British Columbia; and one in Belle-Glade, Florida.
The main workplace of the position to be filled is on the South Shore of Montreal, in Saint-Patrice-de-Sherrington. Advantageously located about 30 minutes from the Champlain Bridge, near the crossroads of highways 15 south, 10 and 30.
Reporting to the Area Manager, the Production and Process Engineer is responsible for minimizing health and safety risks, improving quality, maintaining service excellence, and reducing operating costs. In doing so, they optimize production line performance, design and implement innovative solutions, and manage improvement projects within the company, working closely with the Engineering, Maintenance, R&D, Quality, and Production departments.
- Analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify the greatest variances and suggest ways to meet the set goals
- Analyze strategic KPIs in order to anticipate and react to negative variances for the purpose of minimizing them
- Take the necessary measures to reach annual performance, labour, and raw material yield targets
- Proactively suggest improvements and projects aimed at reducing labour costs, increasing productivity, and minimizing loss-related costs
- Support operations using a Manufacturing Execution System (MES)
- Coordinate continuous improvement projects
- Conduct pre-project analysis and technological watch for new requests
- Perform return on investment (ROI) analysis and validate attainment during project implementation
- Analyze workstation and storage area organization and carry out space reorganization projects for optimization
- Conduct time and motion studies to determine standard times
- Develop flexible, adaptable, and versatile manufacturing systems and methods
- Coordinate and lead continuous improvement initiatives to simplify daily operations
- Act as the person responsible for the manufacturing process
- Analyze and approve production-related modification requests, be it regarding machinery, programmable logic controllers (PLC), parameters, or operational methods and procedures
- Provide technical support and represent operations for corporate projects (R&D, marketing, quality control, etc.)

Knowledge and skills sought
- Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, automated production, or mechanical engineering.
- At least 3 years of experience in a similar position
- Good knowledge of the manufacturing industry
- Possess a sharp mechanical sense
- Knowledge of a CMMS system (an asset)
- Intermediate knowledge of 3D CAD software (an asset)
- Green Belt certification (an asset)
- Bilingual proficiency in spoken and written French and English
- Demonstrated leadership and ability to motivate
- Strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize and take initiative
